Engineering Medical Lock Closure (MLC1)

| Developed as part of FE's contract for the design of the U.S. Navy's new Standard Double Lock Recompression Chamber (SNDL), our new proprietary Medical Lock Closure (MLC1) incorporates what we think to be the simplest and most effective interlock of any medical lock in the world. The all stainless MLC1 is secured to the SNDL by 12 shear plates which enables the medical lock to be removed for maintenance and/or repair. The interlock consists of a dowel pin fixed to a large diameter flat stainless plate that locks a slider in the closed position when there is very little pressure inside the med lock (<7 kPa - 1 psig). The slider engages the closures’ breach lock teeth preventing the door from being opened whilst pressurised. |
